Peninsula Scoops — the Peninsula Ice Cream Directory
A side project, not a startup

About Peninsula Scoops

A hand-curated guide to ice cream, gelato, and frozen treats in the Peninsula.

Why this site exists

The Peninsula has a great frozen-treat scene scattered from Burlingame down to Mountain View, and it's hard to navigate one Yelp page at a time. Peninsula Scoops is a single place to browse it: who's nearby, who's open right now, who serves dairy-free or gelato, and which shops have been part of the neighborhood for decades. It's a side project, not a venture-backed startup — just a useful directory built by someone who lives in Atherton and eats too much ice cream.

How shops get added

Every shop on Peninsula Scoops is added by hand. There's no scraper pulling random businesses off Google Maps. Each entry is visited, photographed, or independently verified, with real neighborhood, hours, dietary options, and the kinds of treats they actually serve.

Know a place that should be on the list? and it'll get reviewed and added if it fits.

Who runs it

Peninsula Scoops is built and maintained by Bruce Johnson, a software engineer in Atherton. One person, one inbox. If you write in, you're talking to me directly, not a support queue.

Get in touch

The fastest way to reach me is email: notifications@peninsulascoops.com. Use it for shop submissions, corrections, broken hours, partnership ideas, or just to say hi.

If something on the site looks wrong (a shop closed, an address is off, a photo is broken), please tell me. I'd rather hear it from you than from someone showing up to a closed door.

A note on reviews

Ratings and review counts shown on shop pages aggregate Google reviews and reviews submitted on this site. Community reviews are moderated — spam, fake ratings, and personal attacks on staff are removed. If you see something that shouldn't be there, email me and I'll handle it.
